Rooks Tavern serves brunch and 18-hour smoked brisket on Sundays from 10 AM until 3 PM. Order scrambles with house pit-style chili or smoked trout, the Rooks Benedict or Jalapeño-Cheese Pupusa, and classics like Banana-Pecan French Toast and Buttermilk Pancakes served with fresh fruit, smoked whipped cream, and local maple syrup.
We offer two standard scrambles with either house chili or smoked trout. You can also build your own breakfast on the base of the Early Bird: two eggs cooked any style and potatoes. Add vegan black or cowboy beans; bacon, sausage, or country ham; a quarter pound of brisket; or a six-ounce black angus bavette steak.
If you’re in the mood for something truly special, try the Rooks Bendict — our unique take on a brunch classic. We start with delicately-breaded country ham croquettes and add two poached eggs and house mustard hollandaise sauce. The Jalapeño-Cheese Pupusa layers corn masa cakes, Leicester cheese, fresh jalapeños, and black bean sauce topped with a light salad garnish and served with fresh salsa.
We fire off brunch favorites like Banana-Pecan French Toast and Buttermilk Pancakes on the griddle over open flame and serve both with fresh fruit, smoked whipped cream, and local maple syrup.
If you’re seeking a Sunday morning barbecue fix, order the Texas Barbecue Plate, AKA “the Austin Hangover.” Choose from a half or full pound of 18-hour smoked brisket or pulled pork served with potato salad, pickles, and peasant bread. Our Poutine also features pulled rib meat served over baked potato fries smothered in mole gravy with fresh cheese curds. Add additional barbecue — including brisket, pulled pork adobado, smoked chicken, or house-smoked hot links — onto any brunch order.
Don’t forget about the Sausage Sandwich! We grind, season, and smoke our hot-links in house before slicing one and serving it on a toasted brioche bun with whole grain mustard, grilled peppers and onions, and Leicester cheese. Elevate this brunch sandwich to the next level by adding an egg cooked any way you’d like.
If you’re looking for a lighter vegan or vegetarian brunch option or side, consider the vegan Composed Salad of pasta or grain with seasonal vegetables dressed in vinaigrette. We always have seasonal fruit on hand that can be served with or without yogurt and house granola, depending on your dietary preferences.
Rooks’ coffee is always made fresh to-order, and the bar mixes a full range of cocktails. Our Bloody Marys are the stuff of brunch legend, garnished with a skewered assortment of fresh and pickled vegetables, fruits, and bar ham. Try our $2 mimosas and ask your bartender about seasonal mimosa flavors and other special brunch concoctions.
